I
dedicate an article for all member of Syalala Conversation. Syalala
Conversation is a horde people who have spirit to learn English and want to
improve English skill specially in speaking skill. Syalala
conversation just have seven members. If everyone want to join he or she
should fill the requirement that he/she should enter our circle and say
promises that he/she would speak English in our circle.
It
was the third meeting for us. Last night (25/10) we talked about our dreams
when we was a child in front of GUSDURian’s house. We believe that everyone had
dreams when their children. The dreams could be kept until now or could be
failed in the process of life. For this
meeting, there is a new member. He is Nia from Pekalongan City. She was in UGM
this year.
To
be a doctor, soldier, teacher, police are mainstream dream. The profession was
introduced our teacher at school. I think in people opinion that profession has
high social level in society. So, the profession really colored children life
in Indonesia. I have not found children that has dream to be a farmer because
in our life condition we have seen that farmer has a poor life. They go to rice
field every day and wear the dirty clothes, plow a rice field under sun, go to
their home in the afternoon, they seem exhausted in their life. It is not enough
precticious life for children and for many people.
Different
with other profession, such as teacher and police, every morning they wear a
uniform, a tidy clothes, wear shine shoes, ride motorcycle, work in office not
under sun directly, and go back to their home in the afternoon around 3-4 pm. It
is really cool life and every parent want their children to be like that.
In
our discussing, dream always changed in our life. We know that life is harder
than was imagined. We see the reality of life and change our dream such as
Fairus, he wanted to be a diplomat until he was in UIN Sunan Kalijaga. He got
internship in Jakarta (I forgot the name of office). He saw how people worked
there. Then, he conclude that no one real activity that they did in the office.
They just came in the morning then go back in the afternoon. He can not imagine
that his life could be like that. It changes his dream. Now he wants to be a
great lecturer and do something useful for a community.
In
other case, sometime we lose a dream and look for other dream that match with
our capability or match with what we want. In that situation, we don’t stay too
long. We should decide our purposes of life. We should choose what job/activity
that we want and try to get it. Joko said that “when you are 25 ages, you
should decide your dream.” Then Jay Akhmad said “There are two choices. We lead
a life or life leads us. You should choose it early now.” (ella)
